Dujiangyan Base of China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda
Dujiangyan Base of China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda is one of the iconic projects of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for reconstruction of Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province. It covers a total area of 760 mu(1 mu=666.67 sq.m), adjacent to the giant panda habitat world heritage area, with a suitable climate and natural environment for giant pandas to live. It is the exclusive scientific research protection and popularization of science education institution in China, which integrates giant panda disease prevention and control, field rescue and public education.
Dujiangyan Base of China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center is mainly divided into six areas for different functions: disease prevention and control research, quarantine, rehabilitation training, public education, natural landscape and office. The areas of rehabilitation training, public education and natural landscape area will be fully open to the public. Among them, there are 5 giant panda breeding workstations: Panpan, Shuangnan, Diequan, Linze, guardianship and isolated enclosures.
Since its establishment, the Dujiangyan base of China giant panda protection and research center has successfully completed the reception and inspection missions of German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Dutch king William Alexander, Austrian president Van Der Bellen, prime minister Kurtz, former Afghan president Karzai and other dignitaries. At present, the research center has established research cooperation with 11 foreign zoos in 9 countries, including the United States, Britain, Austria, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Belgium.
